MEDVET - mail order business for veterinary needs

Ludwig Bertram Ltd., known to most customers today as MEDVET, has been one of the oldest firms trading in high-quality medical products for more than 135 successful years. In the beginning the company limited its distributional activities to protective clothing and rubber medical devices. Some 60 years later the company had become a major specialist trader with three separate divisions. One part of the company trio is RUSSKA, which sells products for homecare, followed by Bertram Vital for technical care and rehabilitation and MEDVET for veterinary items of all kinds. Since the early 1960's MEDVET has worked very closely with the Veterinary College in Hanover (Tierärztliche Hochschule Hannover) and co-operated on the development of a special cage magnet, which was to become a milestone of Bertram's developing history. Today nearly every veterinarian is aware of the enormous advantages of MEDVET's wholesale company and appreciates the competence and know-how of its team. Now MEDVET offers its product range in a well assorted online shop in order to get products and medical equipment to where they are urgently needed as fast as possible.

Satisfied customers since 1874. On 9th July 1999 Ludwig Bertram GmbH - MEDVET - celebrated the 125th anniversary of its existence. It was founded in 1874 as a retail shop for rubber products ("Gummi-Bertram"), from which developed a wholesale business for medical rubber goods under the brandname RUSSKA (registered in 1909) and later (approx. 1940) a specialist business for veterinary medicine under the brandname MEDVET, which was registered in 1950. Starting out with protective rubber clothing (boots, aprons etc.), a collaboration with the Veterinary College in Hanover brought about the development of the cage magnet in 1960/61, a milestone in the history of MEDVET. Today the Bertram company employs approximately 120 people on its 10,000 sqm. office and warehouse premises.
